  The Vatican Apostolic Library, more commonly called the Vatican Library or simply the Vat, is the library of the Holy See, located in Vatican City.

 

  Formally established in 1475, although it is much older, it is one of the oldest libraries in the world and contains one of the most significant collections of historical texts.

 

  It currently has 75,000 codices from throughout history, as well as 1.1 million printed books, which include some 8,500 incunabula. The Vatican Library is a research library for history, law, philosophy, science and theology. The Vatican Library is open to anyone who can document their qualifications and research needs. Photocopies for private study of pages from books published between 1801 and 1990 can be requested in person or by mail. In March 2014, the Vatican Library began an initial four-year project of digitising its collection of manuscripts, to be made available online. The Vatican Secret Archives were separated from the library at the beginning of the 17th century; they contain another 150,000 items.

  The Roman Forum, Rome, Italy is the ancient ruins of the ancient Roman Empire.

  This area was the center of religions and politics in the ancient Roman Empire. Here must be one of the places where you want to visit someday if you can find a chance to visit Italy.

   This picture was taken from the hill named "Capitoline", where there used to be splendid palaces for the Emperors and noblemen of the Roman Empire.

   Via Sacra, "the Holy Road", runs in the center of this area, where Triumphal marches made by Emperors and generals who returned from victorious campaigns were welcomed spectacularly.


Sample Wallpaper 3 - The Ruins of the Philae Temple in Aswan, Egypt

 

 The Philae Temple is a Nubia ruins in Aswan  of the southern part of Egypt, and one of the most impressive places among the ancient ruins of Egypt.

 This ruins was exposed to the crisis of being submerged in the construction of the Aswan High Dam, but it fled from being submerged by being relocated from the Philae Island to the Agirukia Island in 1980 by UNESCO.

 The Isis temple dedicated to Isis, a goddess, is at the heart. The temple existing presently was built in the era of the Ptolemy dynasty and then the extension had been made over the Roman era. Now the Agirukia Island is called the Philae Island.  


Sample Wallpaper 4 - The Ruins of the Temple of Trajan in Pergama, Turkey

 

  Pergamon(the ancient name of Pergama) has been cited in the book of "Apocalypse"(Revelation) of the Bible as a Christian congregation of the first century that has received the inspection of Jesus Christ along with the congregations in Ephesus, Smyrna, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.

 The temple of Zeus(now exhibited in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Germany) was there in ancient time, and when the Roman Empire went forward in Asia Minor to expand its influence, the temples of the Roman Emperors Augustus, Trajan and Severus were built and became the center of the emperor worship in Asia Minor.

 The Acropolis area, where their temples had lined, is located at the top of the steep hill(altitude 355m) higher than the Acropolis area in Athens, Greece, which means that is it not so easy to reach there on foot. Even now, the ruins, from the temple of Trajan down, which is kept reminiscent of the prosperity of the time, and such as a circular theater that was made using the slope of the steep hill can be seen.
